Rosaiah opens up, opposes yatra

After refraining from making any comments on Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s Odarpu Yatra all these days, chief minister K Rosaiah opened up on Wednesday afternoon and opposed the yatra outrightly.

“Participating in Odarpu Yatra is definitely a violation of the Congress party discipline and amounts to defying the Congress high command. In fact, Jagan himself said in his open letter that the yatra has no approval of the high command. Still he wants to go ahead with the yatra, which amounts to defying the party leadership,” he said.

The chief minister also issued a veiled threat to the party leaders including MLAs and ministers against participating in the yatra. “It is their personal decision whether to join the yatra or not. As far as I am concerned, I told the MLAs and ministers who sought my advise that it is better to avoid participating in Jagan’s yatra, since it does not have the high command’s permission. If they go, they will be doing at their own risk,” he said.

Rosaiah also found fault with Jagan mentioning the discussions he had with Sonia within the four walls in his open letter. “He should not have done that,” Rosaiah said.

Stating that there was no uncertainty in the Congress party due to Jagan’s tour, the chief minister said the issue of providing security to Jagan would be taken care of by local police authorities.
